Ali is a mix engineer and producer based in the UK. Having completed his apprenticeship in several London studios he was appointed in-house engineer for Island Records at their legendary studio The Fallout Shelter. After four years working exclusively for Island on seminal albums for artists including Tricky, Lewis Taylor, Pulp and dEUS, he left to go freelance.
As an established mix engineer he has worked with many diverse artists including Madonna, Rufus Wainwright, Lamb and Laura Mvula. Successfully combining work on critically acclaimed and high profile pop projects, albums he has worked on have received a Grammy nomination for Seal’s ‘System’, won a Brit Award and been shortlisted for the Mercury Music Prize with Tricky’s ‘Maxinequaye’. His production and mixes for Turin Brakes and HiFi Sean have regularly featured on radio including BBC R2 playlists. Recent projects include production and mix on the forthcoming debut album from George Ogilvie‘White Out’ and upcoming Alt Rock 4-piece The Collier.
